Health and Public Service career training available this spring at Hill College

Spring registration for the 2022–2023 academic year at Hill College is open. The career pathway programs at Hill College serve as a guide to help students succeed in their time at the college and their careers.

This spring, the Health & Public Service Pathway has several programs open on various campuses that provide technical certifications and associate degrees for students who are interested in public service and healthcare. Criminal Justice and Drug and Alcohol Counseling

Criminal justice is one of America's fastest-growing career fields. Hill College's criminal justice program provides certificate and associate degree options, as well as university transfer opportunities. Students can gain a successful foundation in law enforcement, corrections, as well as drug and alcohol abuse counseling.

These programs will be held online for the spring semester. Classes begin January 17.

Police Academy

The basic police academy program involves over 800 hours of classroom and hands-on training. Completion of this training allows individuals to take the TCOLE licensing examination to become a Texas Peace Officer.

Spring registration deadline for the Hill County Campus program is January 9.

Emergency Medical Services

The Hill College Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Professions program prepares students to care for people in a pre-hospital setting as an Emergency Medical Technician-Basic or an Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic.

Registration deadline is January 9, with classes held Johnson County Campus in the spring.

Fire Protection Services/Fire Academy

The Hill College Fire Protection Technology Program offers comprehensive training and prepares students to be firefighters with classroom experience, hands-on skills, and physical training. The Hill College Fire Academy is licensed by the Texas Commission on Fire Protection.

The Hill College program was recently named a nationally ranked fire science program, ranking 38th (eighth in the state of Texas) out of the top 90 programs across the nation.

Fire Protection Technology classes are offered in both day and hybrid blocks at both the Hill County and Johnson County Campuses. Hill County Campus is in person only; Johnson County Campus offers a hybrid option. Spring classes begin January 17.

Cosmetology

The Hill College Cosmetology Program allows cosmetology students the opportunity to take their knowledge to the next level with an associate degree upon graduation.

The Johnson County Campus is accepting new students for the spring 2023 semester; classes begin January 17.
